Skills Experiences and Accomplishments

I have been working in areas of environment and natural resource management, disaster management and climate change and development aspects for the last fifteen years. I am proficient in Political Ecology that I used in my PhD research to assess the state of deciduous forests located in the central parts of Bangladesh. I have strong field orientation that helped me to understand the physical systems and social processes within which social/environmental problems are situated. This orientation and exposure help me to better assess the root causes of the problem. Iusedifferent qualitative, quantitative methods like PRA, FGD, questionnaire survey, statistical methods and tools (e.g. STATA), spatial analysis techniques like Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Satellite Remote Sensing to examine and understand societal/environmental problems. In addition to my regular teaching and research responsibilities, I lead/contributed in a number of national and donor aided research projects (the number is about 40) and gained valuable experiences in regards to project proposal writing, undertaking impact assessments including baseline surveys and terminal evaluations and presenting/publishing related results in different avenues. The following Table gives impression about my research experiences in summary.
